Family

The Courtauld family bought the Auchinellan Estate in April, 2019, having moved from a small stock-rearing farm in Cornwall.

We were looking for a new adventure, and wanted to return North. The clear air, with the lichen and moss, drew us to this quiet corner of Scotland.

We are four, plus five dogs. Auchinellan had been in the previous family for 90 years. Maida, the former owner for whom the Cottage is named, welcomed us so warmly we felt like we had known her forever. She wanted a family, and to have the land farmed again.
